Carried as a pen and fired only when folded, the Stinger was patented in 1991 and made in America until 2004. Now it is returning, re-engineered for a new generation.

The original Stinger

Carried as a pen. Fired only when folded.

The folding design was patented in 1991 by Robert J. Braverman and Isaak M. Shklyarov. American Derringer sold it as the Model 2 in 1993 and 1994, R. J. Braverman Corp. as the Stinger from 1995, and Stinger Manufacturing revived it from 2002 until production ended in 2004.

The next Stinger

The Stinger is returning.

R. J. Braverman LLC has re-engineered the Stinger for a new generation. A working prototype has been built, the company describes the design as ready for manufacture, and the new design is patent pending.

The company intends to bring the re-engineered Stinger to market with an established industry partner. It is not in production or on sale, and no release date has been set. R. J. Braverman LLC welcomes inquiries from established industry partners interested in the future development and commercialization of the Stinger.

The inventor

Robert J. Braverman

He is named first inventor on both 1991 patents, and his company, R. J. Braverman Corp., gave the gun the name it still carries. Today his company, R. J. Braverman LLC, is leading the Stinger’s renewal.
